Mole Removal

Click to EnlargeMoles are small marks that can appear anywhere on your skin. Usually brown in colour, they can be found alone or in groups. It is possible, however, for moles to be dark blue, black, or a pinkish flesh colour. In addition, they can be flat, raised, or round and come in a variety of colours.

Moles are common. In fact, everyone has at least a few somewhere on his or her body. In fact, researchers believe that the moles you will have are determined before you are ever born. During the first 20 years of your life, these moles begin to appear. Changes in hormone levels from life events such as puberty and pregnancy can cause the appearance of moles to change by becoming larger or darker.

>> How does mole removal work?

Before you decide to go ahead, Skin and Laser Clinic will offer you a thorough one-to-one medical consultation with a doctor who specialises in mole removal procedures. Doctor will also explain the benefits and risks of having your skin lesion removed, and will discuss the alternatives to the procedure.

Treating moles after they have been properly analysed is a simple and quick procedure is usually carried out under a local anaesthetic, which means that then affected skin area will be completely numb but you stay awake. Mole removal with Erbium resurfacing laser is a simple, fast and accurate procedure. The cosmetic results are generally very good, with very little in the way of scarring or marks after the procedure. We use the latest laser technology to ensure any scarring is minimal. However, if the mole is hairy, the Er:YAG laser will not remove the hairs and these may have to be dealt with later using our hair removal Lasers.

The Er:YAG Laser causes a superficial wound to the skin that takes 7-10 days to heal. Consultation, imaging of the mole and surgical Laser removal can all be done during one visit, in less than one hour.

Postoperative care is minimal. Your doctor may ask you to use an anti-bacterial ointment for a short period of time (3-5 days) and will suggest that you stay out of the sun for some time.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: A Mole Scan and diagnosis together with a Doctor’s consultation is required in all cases before starting the Laser Mole Removal Treatment.
