Treatments can be applied as part of a daily routine and so the Titanium Dermaroller can be used daily as well to enhance the penetration of certain treatments. Tobegin with, the Titanium Dermaroller should only be used twice a week, so that the amount of penetration is controlled and the healing time is kept to a minimum. With practice, as the skin’s healing mechanisms become stimulated, rolling multiple times per week will be possible as the skin will be able to heal fully inside 24 hours.

Dermaroller Collagen Induction Therapy
Skin Needling provides results similar to Fraxel Laser Resurfacing and/or Chemical Peels but at a fraction of the cost and with minimal to zero downtime. The Titanium Dermaroller creates a multitude of tiny puncture wounds to the dermis which induces the release of growth factors that stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin for smoother, brighter, healthier and younger-looking skin. Why Skin Needling works:
Skin Needling with a dermaroller produces hundreds of tiny dermal injuries. Each dermal injury triggers the normal healing response within the skin and successive treatments build new collagen progressively and progressively fill in depressed scars and deep lines. We advise to use Dermaroller in conjunction with Obagi Tretionin to enhance product penetration and stimulate dermal renewal. The needle length and needle diameter are important to determine the best combination for treating scars and rejuvenating the skin. Creating dermal damage without removal of the healthy epidermis, as with other resurfacing techniques, means the healing time is rapid and does not cause comparable pain. Results are quick and will last.

The skin should be assessed prior to the client’s first treatment. The use of skin treatments and/or products both pre- and post-treatment will enhance the client’s results dramatically.
Several Pre-Treatment options are available to the clients at RTW Skin and Laser:
- Microdermabrasion
- Peels : Glycolic acid, Salicylic acid, Pumpkin or Jessners
- Laser
- Obagi Nu-Derm product
We recommend that you use one of the topical creams Tretionin or Vitamin C with a Dermaroller for home use for a week or more prior to the actual procedure. The rationale given for this pre-treatment method is to be able to synthesize the collagen and elastin thus enhancing the skin repair process.
~> Medical Roller procedure:
Simply means that the body is being forced to create its own collagen in response to what the body perceives as an injury.
Following the application of a topical anaesthetic to numb the skin, treatment with Titanium Dermaroller and 0.05% Tretionin normally takes around 20-30 minutes. The skin in the treated area turns a pinkish/red colour immediately after treatment which can last for an average of 12 to 24 hours. Within hours your skin will quickly begin to regenerate.
A course of 3-5 treatments at six weekly intervals may be recommended with Dermaroller for home use.
During micro-needling procedure we simply utilise the bodies self-healing mechanisms. The roller is moved across the treatment area and creates a great deal of the little nicks, which then become the focal point for the body to produce its own collagen. The intrusion of tiny surgical needles is sensed by skin nerve receptors as an injury stimulus. By opening the skin in this way you not only dramatically increase the penetration of any topical product, increasing its efficacy, but you also create miniature perforations that stimulate the skin’s healing mechanisms, increasing production of many important factors for a healthy skin.
The needles are very fine and thin so no post-op pain or side-effects have been reported and the patient can return to work the day after treatment.
Results:
In our experience, results vary between patients, with some patients achieving 90%+ improvement in scarring and wrinkles, others, less than 50 %. All patients however achieve some improvement.
All patients will require multiple treatments to achieve satisfactory results, usually 3 - 6 treatments, this leads to a high level of patient satisfaction.
It can also be regularly repeated as the patient ages to replenish collagen.
