Laser and IPL hair removal Treatment

Not all lasers are equally effective for all the different combinations of hair types and skin colour. For this reason we offer the entire range of hair removal lasers and IPL so we can truly recommend the system that is the best suited to your individual hair and skin type. It is essential to look into the recommended laser device for your skin type before beginning laser hair removal treatment.

  • Alexandrite (755 nm) – High affinity for melanin. Best for light/medium skin tones. The laser has the ability to penetrate deeply into the dermis. The resultant heat build up in the hair shafts disables the hair follicles in the active growth phase which enables it to achieve effective laser hair removal.
  • Nd:YAG (1064 nm) – Less melanin absorption and lowest chance of post-treatment changes in skin pigmentation, especially when pulse duration is lengthened. Best for darker skin.
  • IPL (625nm) ideal for the hair removal treatment up to Fitzpatrick skin type IV. The shortest wavelengths have the greatest attraction to melanin and are the most effective but also the most likely to damage darker, melanin-rich skin.

Your safety and satisfaction are our primary concerns. Our laser experts perform test spots and assess hair and skin types for treatment eligibility. We thoroughly review every client's skin type and hair colour to determine customized treatment settings before and during the treatment.

>> How many treatments?

The female face, armpits, and bikini lines are areas which respond fastest to laser treatments- back, arms and legs usually need more treatments over time.

Since each treatment typically disables about 20% of hair follicles, most patients require a minimum of 6 treatments for sufficient long-term results. However, as everyone is individual it is impossible to say how many treatments you’ll need exactly to achieve the effect you want.

Less hair (about 10-20% less) typically grows back following each treatment, and also tends to be finer and lighter in colour.

Your skin type and hair colour, coarseness of hair as well as age, metabolism and other individual factors influence hair growth rate.

Generally it is best to wait 4-6 weeks between treatments. There is no advantage to scheduling your visits closer together even if you do not see immediate results. The laser only targets hair in the growth phase. The next growth phase is generally in 4-6 weeks.

>> Will the laser hair removal treatment be comfortable?

Discomfort caused by laser hair removal is very individual and varies from person to person. Most people who have laser hair removal treatment find the process less painful than other forms of hair removal such as electrolysis and many people feel no pain at all. Treatment sensation varies but is often described as ‘a flick of an elastic band’.

Hair will gradually fall out starting in about 2 - 3 weeks and continue over the next 6 weeks.

The hairs will be pushed out of the new epidermis. Use a mild exfoliant in the shower on the 10th day, which helps exfoliate the skin and remove hair. Repeated treatments are necessary to catch all the hairs in their various stages of growth.
